    What's the story

In what can be seen as a bid to create disturbance in the community, few miscreants left a burning cylinder outside a mosque at the Chetak Circle in the heart of Udaipur, in the early hours of Wednesday- a day before the holy month of Ramzan started.

The firefighters reached just in time to avoid a major accident. Police are looking to identify the miscreants.

    Details

Cylinder could have caused humongous damage, had it exploded

At about 3 AM, the miscreants reportedly arrived at the Paltan Masjid and abandoned the burning cylinder on the main road.

The locals said had the cylinder exploded, vehicles parked would have caught fire causing a great damage.

The entire incident was recorded in CCTV camera and the police hope to learn culprits' motive soon.

However, the Muslim community has complained of authorities' laxity.

Incident triggers panic and anger among Muslims

The incident has triggered anger and panic among Muslims.

Sadar Khalil Mohammad of Anjuman Talimul Islam society called the incident unfortunate and said miscreants had no fear of police.

He alleged they wanted to frighten Muslims before Ramzan. "The area which is under 24 hours watch and vigil of the policemen, seems not to be so safe," he said.

SP Rajendra Prasad says incident not too 'serious'

Reportedly, SP Rajendra Prasad said the cylinder was empty and fire superficial. He blamed some mentally sick person for it. However, the Muslim community said if the miscreants weren't arrested in three days, they will stage protests.
