#Budget2019: Finance Minister Piyush Goyal chalks out healthcare plans
While delivering his Budget speech, interim Finance Minister Piyush Goyal, on Thursday, highlighted that the successes of the government's Ayushman Bharat health insurance scheme. Goyal explained that the scheme was launched to benefit 50 crore poor people, and announced during the interim Budget that the government was taking steps to increase its outreach. 14 AIIMS have been announced to improve outreach
During his speech, Goyal said that the Ayushman Bharat scheme had resulted in savings of Rs. 3,000cr for poor families, and 10 lakh people had received treatment under it. He added that currently, 22 All Indian Institutes of Medical Science (AIIMS) were operating or being established, and that 14 among them had been announced under the NDA regime since 2014.
