BSF camp near Srinagar Airport attacked, 2 terrorists killed
Terrorists attacked a Border Security Force (BSF) camp near the Srinagar Airport outside the Airforce station at Gogo Humhama around 4.30 am on Tuesday. At least two terrorists have reportedly been killed and three BSF jawans injured in the ensuing gunfight. Intermittent firing is on. All morning flights from Srinagar Airport have been suspended. The Jaish-e-Mohammad has reportedly claimed responsibility for the attack.
Airports at major metro cities put on high alert
Officials said around three to four terrorists barged into the 182 battalion camp of BSF in Humhama in the early hours of Tuesday. Two terrorists, who were targeting the batallion's administrative block, have been killed Combing operations are on. Stone pelting reportedly took place outside the BSF camp. Following the attack, airports in major metro cities have been put on high alert.
Passengers allowed to enter Srinagar Airport, flight ops remain suspended
The encounter site is among the most fortified parts of Kashmir. Passengers are now being allowed into the Srinagar Airport after checking, to avoid inconvenience. The roads leading to the airport had earlier been cordoned off. Flight operations remain suspended. Meanwhile, Home Minister Rajnath Singh has called a high level meeting at 11:30 am to discuss the J&K issue.
