BRS, Congress women workers clash over KTR's 'break dance' comment
An altercation broke out between the women workers of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) and Congress parties on Saturday. The incident took place when KT Rama Rao (KTR), Telangana's former minister and working president of BRS, visited the Women's Commission office in Hyderabad. He was there to respond to a summons regarding his recent "break dance" comments that have sparked controversy.
Congress women demand apology from KTR
Upon KTR's arrival at the Women's Commission office, Mahila Congress workers began protesting in front of his vehicle. They blocked his vehicle and demanded an apology for his controversial remarks about women. The Women's Commission had previously issued a notice to KTR, instructing him to appear in person on Saturday, following the backlash over his comments.
KTR's comments on free bus travel scheme spark controversy
The controversy stems from KTR's comments last week about the free bus travel scheme introduced by the Congress-led Telangana government for women. He suggested that women using this scheme could "break dance" or record dance videos. These remarks were met with significant backlash from various groups who deemed them "dismissive and insensitive."

KTR apologizes for his comments on social media
In response to the criticism, KTR issued an apology on August 16. He stated, "I am sorry if our women sisters were offended by the usual comments made in the party meeting yesterday. I never meant to offend my sisters." On Saturday, he apologized again but also attacked the Congress, saying, "I strongly condemn the attack on...women workers by Congress workers. They tell me that they have been attacked with small objects like nail cutters. This is not right."
