Missing college clerk found dead in Ganga; police suspect suicide

The body of a college clerk named Sumesh Sharma who had been missing from May 10, was recovered from the Ganga canal in Khatauli in Muzaffarnagar last evening, Circle Officer Rajive Kumar Singh said today. Police suspect that Sharma, who was from Roorkee, committed suicide following a family dispute. The body was sent for post-mortem; the police were probing the matter.

Three people committed suicide in the district last evening
Meanwhile, three people committed suicide in the Muzaffarnagar district last evening, police said. Murtaza, 24, killed himself by jumping before a train in Civil Lines Police Station area in Muzaffarnagar. A 22-year-old married woman, Shalu, hanged herself from the ceiling in her house in Bhakahwri village. In the third incident, a 25-year-old woman killed herself by consuming poison at Akhlor village in Muzaffarnagar.
