Bihar: Dacoits stop passenger train, loot valuables worth Rs. 5L
Armed dacoits looted valuables worth over Rs. 5 lakh from passengers of a weekly train from Delhi while it was passing through Lakhisarai district, police said Thursday. The dacoits stopped the train by pulling the chain and robbed passengers of two sleeper coaches and one each of AC2 and AC3 coaches of the Anand Vihar-Bhagalpur weekly superfast train. Gang of 20 members took away mobile phones, jewelry, cash
It appeared that the gang had around 20 members who forced the passengers to part with their mobile phones, jewelry, cash and other valuables, DSP (Railway), Jamalpur, Shivendra Anubhavi said. The incident occurred yesterday night in between Pavail Halt-Daita Dam stretch in Lakhisarai district. Anubhavi said the process of working out the total value of the looted articles, including cash, is still on.
'MO of dacoits bears resemblance to lower rank ultra-Left guerrillas'
"It is in excess of Rs. 5 lakh. We are also exploring the naxal angle as the area is Maoist-infested and the modus operandi of the dacoits bears resemblance to that of lower rank ultra-Left guerrillas," noted Anubhavi. SP (Railway), Jamalpur, Aamir Javed said, "Nobody was seriously injured though, some suffered bruises while the dacoits were trying to snatch away their valuables."
