Bihar Class X results: Only half the students pass
The Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) declared results for Class X board exams today. A total of 17,23,911 students appeared for the exam this time, of which 8,63,250 passed. Increase of 4% since last year's pass percentage
Compared to last year's pass percentage of 46.6%, this year, 50.12% students passed, said BSEB chairperson Anand Kishore. After a fiasco involving Class XII results, the board took time announcing the 10th results after proper verification. The examinations were conducted strictly too, said Kishore, including "CCTV in all exam centres, bar-coding in answer sheets" and more.
Most of the top 10 are from Simultala High School
Topper Prem Kumar of Shree Govind High School Mano, the son of a hotel owner in Lakhisarai, scored 93%. He says he wants to join the IAS. Second topper Bhavya Kumari of Simultala Awasiya Vidyalaya, Jamui, secured 92.8%, one mark less than Kumar. She too wants to crack the UPSC exam. 13.91% candidates have secured first division, 26.88% second, and 9.32% third.
After Class XII fiasco, stringent physical verification of 10th toppers
After the fiasco in Class XII results, when Intermediate Arts "topper" Ganesh Kumar turned out to be a 42-year-old fraud, the BSEB this time physically verified all 10 toppers. Oral and written tests were conducted for all.
