Bailey Road caves in after heavy rain in Bihar
A part of the busy Jawaharlal Nehru Road, commonly known as Bailey Road, in Patna caved in due to heavy rains, officials said today. Around 30ft stretch of the road caved in last night between Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) building and IPS Mess Association building due to heavy rains, they said. Patna received heavy rainfall yesterday with many areas waterlogged.
Nitish Kumar inspected the spot damaged by heavy rains
Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar along with Road Construction Minister Nand Kishore Yadav and senior officials inspected the spot damaged by heavy rains today and gave necessary directives to the officials in this connection. "The entire incident (damage to the road), which was caused by rain last night, will be reviewed. The department will work to restore the road," CM Kumar said.
Metro rail will be constructed on this stretch: Nitish Kumar
"The Metro rail will be constructed on this stretch and it will be underground at this place (where the flyover is being built)," CM Nitish Kumar said. He added, "We will get it thoroughly studied with the help of experts of Lohia Path Chakra and metro rail project so that such an incident is not repeated in the future."
Road Construction department constituted five-member committee to probe damage
Road Construction department has constituted a five-member committee headed by department's Engineer-in-Chief to probe the damage caused to the road and monitoring of the restoration work, an order issued by the department said today. It said that the committee will find out the reasons for such an incident and will also suggest measures in order to prevent such incident in future.
