Madhya Pradesh man live-streams suicide, wife among viewers
What's the story
In a shocking incident, 27-year-old Shivprakash Tiwari of Madhya Pradesh's Rewa district committed suicide while live-streaming the act on social media.
The incident happened on March 16, in Mehra village. After Tiwari broadcasted his final moments accusing his wife and mother-in-law of destroying his home, both the women have been arrested for allegedly abetting the suicide.
Police charged Priya Tripathi and her mother Geeta Dubey with abetment to suicide.
Investigation
Wife viewed husband's suicide live, police allege
Police investigations revealed Priya was one of those who watched the disturbing live-stream. This is in contradiction to her claim that she had only seen the video after Tiwari's death.
"The deceased used to work as a priest in Wardha district of Gujarat. He returned home around six months ago, as he met with an accident injuring his leg. Since then, he had been staying at home," said JP Patel, Sirmour police station in charge.
Circumstances
Disputes led to tragic outcome
The couple had a six-month-old child and frequent disputes had taken place.
Shivprakash had gone to his in-laws' place on March 16, to bring Priya back, but she refused to return with him.
After this latest dispute, he returned home and took the extreme step.
Police have registered a case of unnatural death based on the live-streamed video evidence.
