BSF to return Bhagat Singh's Gun to Punjab
The BSF is reportedly considering a request to return Bhagat Singh's pistol, which is currently on display at the BSF museum in Indore, to the museum in Khatkar Kalan, Bhagat Singh's birthplace. All other articles belonging to the martyr are displayed at the Khatkar Kalan museum. Chandigarh-based advocate HC Arora filed a petition seeking the retrieval of the pistol.
Gun put for display recently
The gun was recognized by authorities BSF's Reoti museum only last year, after they matched the gun's serial number against their records. It was put on display for the first time on 15 February 2017.
Details of the case
Since all of Bhagat Singh's belongings are on display in the Khatkar Kalan museum, Chandigarh-based advocate HC Arora argued that it was logical that the pistol be returned to Punjab. The BSF gave a verbal response during the recent hearing in the Punjab and Haryana High Court and sought time until May 22 to file their response.
