
Bengaluru suitcase murder: What happened moments before husband killed wife

In a shocking incident, a Bengaluru man was arrested for allegedly murdering his wife and stuffing her body into a suitcase before fleeing to Pune.
The victim, Gauri, had previously worked for a private corporation. However, she had lately quit her job and was actively looking for a new one.
The couple constantly clashed about her unemployment, as Rakesh, a project manager at Hitachi, was the primary earner.
Fatal argument
Dispute escalates to deadly confrontation
On March 26, during dinner, an argument between Rakesh and Gauri turned violent.
According to police sources, Rakesh slapped Gauri, and she retaliated by throwing a knife at him.
In a fit of rage, Rakesh then allegedly stabbed her two to three times with the same knife, killing her immediately.
He then hid her body in a travel bag and tucked it in their bathroom.
Arrest details
Rakesh's confession and subsequent arrest
After the murder, Rakesh allegedly confessed to a carpenter residing below their apartment about the crime.
He requested the carpenter to notify the police and inform Gauri's family so they could conduct her last rites.
The carpenter then informed his landlord, who immediately alerted law enforcement authorities.
Meanwhile, Rakesh fled to Pune after committing the crime.

Rakesh confesses to police in Pune
After reaching Pune, Rakesh told police he had poisoned himself. He was first admitted to Satara Hospital but later shifted to Pune's Sassoon Hospital.
A police team from Bengaluru's Hulimavu has reached Pune and is keeping an eye on Rakesh's health.
If he recovers, he will be flown back to Bengaluru for investigation and legal action.
