Rajasthan: Unidentified men rob bank cashier of Rs. 8 lakh
Two unidentified men robbed a bank cashier and his aide of Rs. 8 lakh while the money was being shifted to a different branch in Rajasthan's Kota district. Although the identity of the robbers is yet to be ascertained, police have registered a case and initiated an investigation. Police are also studying the CCTV footage of the area where the crime was committed.
The robbers came on a two-wheeler and snatched cash bag
Giyarsiram, the cashier of Baroda Rajasthan Regional Rural Bank's Kansuwa branch along with the bank's contractual employee, Devprakash, were on their way to deposit the money to the bank's Bhamasha Mandi branch on Tuesday. The two-wheeler borne robbers approached the bank employees, who were riding a motorcycle, on Bhamasha Mandi over-bridge in Anantpura and snatched the cash bag from Devprakash, who was riding pillion.
Attack comes ahead of CM Raje's visit to Kota
The accused have not been arrested and no clue regarding their identities has surfaced so far, Sub Inspector Ramswaroop at the Anantpura police station said. The attack comes at a time when the city police are on a high-alert as Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje will arrive in Kota to participate in Yoga guru Ramdev's ongoing three-day yoga camp tomorrow on the International Yoga Day.
Police suspect robbers knew about the cash transfer
Giyarsiram told the police that whenever the cash deposited at the Kansuwa branch crossed the Rs. 5 lakh mark, it was sent to the Bhamasha Mandi branch. Police said the robbers were most likely aware of this.
