J&K: Avalanche hits Army post along LoC, kills one soldier
A soldier died and another was injured when an avalanche hit an Army post along the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch district today, police said. The avalanche hit the post of Rashtriya Rifles in Sawjian sector in the morning. It buried two soldiers, following which a rescue operation was launched immediately, the police said. After the rescue operation was launched, the body of one jawan was recovered who had died on the spot and another soldier, still breathing, was shifted to the hospital, the police added. Avalanche occurs when a slab of snow slides down a steep slope.
