Manipur: Interior village gets electricity for first time after independence
At least 26 houses of Sehlon village in the isolated exterior areas of Chandel district of Manipur bordering Myanmar have been provided with electricity for the first time since independence, thanks to Assam Rifles. Residents of the interior village "which has no road connectivity, electricity, and basic amenities" expressed gratitude to the personnel after Assam Rifles set up an operational 5 kVA solar-power plant.
Villagers did not have basic amenities
The interior village was previously provided power supply from a generator of the distantly located Assam Rifles Sector in Kakching district but now, the newly installed solar power plant will help the villagers become self-reliance in terms of electricity.
