9th All India Police Commando Competition begins in Assam
The ninth All India Police Commando Competition, organized under the aegis of Assam Rifles was inaugurated by Meghalaya Governor Tathagata Roy at Karbi Anglong Sports Association (KASA) Stadium at Karbi Anglong district headquarters in Assam, officials said. A total of 22 teams are participating in the event
Appreciating the endeavor of the Assam Rifles for organizing the competition, Roy said the country's oldest paramilitary force has lived up to its credo of being 'Friends of the North East'. A total of 22 teams, eight central armed police forces (CAPF) teams, and 14 state police force teams are participating in the event, an Assam Rifles official said.
Closing-ceremony of the competition to be held on January 9
A team of 21 paratroopers displayed their skills and a Traditional Manipuri Musical Band also performed at the program, the official said. The Chief Executive Member of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council, the district Deputy Commissioner and Superintendent of Police were also present at the inaugural ceremony. The closing ceremony is scheduled on January 9. Assam CM Sarbananda Sonowal would be present on the occasion.
