Arvind Kejriwal gets new home at posh, residential neighborhood
Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal will move into a new residence, Bungalow No. 5 on Feroz Shah Road, near Mandi House in Lutyen's Delhi. The bungalow is currently allotted to AAP Rajya Sabha MP Ashok Mittal. The relocation from his current official residence in Civil Lines is expected to take place within the next one to two days.
Kejriwal's new residence: A strategic choice
The chosen bungalow is located near the AAP headquarters at Ravi Shankar Shukla lane (Canning Lane). Initially, Kejriwal had considered moving into the official bungalow of MP ND Gupta at 10 Feroz Shah Road. However, he ultimately chose the residence currently allotted to party MP Mittal. The AAP confirmed this in a statement saying, "Arvind Kejriwal will move to the bungalow allotted to party MP, Ashok Mittal at 5, Ferozshah Road."
Kejriwal's resignation and future plans
Kejriwal resigned as Delhi CM last month, expressing his intention to vacate the official Flagstaff Road residence during Navratri. Following his resignation, Atishi was chosen as his successor and took oath as the Chief Minister of Delhi on September 22. Kejriwal had stated that he would return to the post only if he receives a renewed mandate and a "certificate of honesty" from Delhi's people in the upcoming assembly polls.
AAP's request for official residence for Kejriwal
In September, the AAP requested the central government to provide Kejriwal with an official residence, citing his position as head of a national party. He is entitled to government-provided accommodation, and the Centre should grant him that, AAP MP Raghav Chadha said. Lutyen's Delhi is a posh area in New Delhi, India, that's home to many high-profile people, including the Prime Minister of India, Sunil Mittal of Airtel, and the Burman family of Dabur Group, among others.
