Artist of viral Hanuman photo speechless after PM Modi's compliment
Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised Mangaluru based artist Karan Acharya's painting of Hanuman, which had gone viral. On learning about PM's compliment, Acharya said he was both surprised and shocked. The 'angry' Hanuman artwork became a rage recently, with many pasting its poster on their vehicles, or wearing its graphic tee. Acharya made the art in 2015 and said he couldn't believe its popularity.
Karan Acharya's friends told him about PM's statement
PM Modi praised Acharya's painting in a rally on Saturday, and the artist's friends kept frantically calling him the day after. "My friends were calling me continuously on Sunday. I thought they were calling normally, but one of my friends texted me that the Prime Minister praised my painting. I didn't believe at first," he said. He added this was his life's biggest achievement.

PM Modi slams Congress for giving art a communal color
During a rally, as he congratulated Karan Acharya for painting something which captured the imagination of the entire country, PM Modi also slammed Congress for giving it a communal color. "Unable to digest its (Karan Acharya's work) success, the Congress tried miring it in a controversy. There is no iota of democracy in the minds of Congress members," PM Modi had said.
Is Karan Acharya's Hanuman really angry? He answers
Acharya said his Hanuman had an attitude, not aggression. "He is powerful, not oppressive. But that's the problem with art. There is no limit to interpretation," he told News18. Talking about the choice of colors, Acharya said, "The orange color, which I have used is just to symbolize the god, not in support of any political party."
