President lauds armed forces, calls them "rare breed of humans"
President Ram Nath Kovind today said the armed forces are a rare breed of humans. He was addressing the passing out parade of the 134th course of the National Defense Academy at Khadakwasla near Pune. "The armed forces are not merely about doing a job, they are about answering a calling. And this calling is for a rare breed of human beings," he said.
Armed forces represent the best of Indian ethos: Kovind
"This parade comprises cadets from all parts of India and its harmony speaks for our essential unity as much as for our pluralism as a society," Kovind said. He said a soldier or an officer in uniform evokes admiration and trust everywhere in the country. Commending their unparalleled service to the nation, he said, "The armed forces represent the best of the Indian ethos."
President says cadets are role model for young people
Kovind called the NDA a crucible of valor and bravery. He said it is because of this heritage that in December 1978 (the then) President Neelam Sanjeeva Reddy conferred the President's colors on the NDA. "Today, the cadets have become role models for our young people," he added. The President expressed confidence that the graduating cadets would prove worthy successors to their fearless officers.
