Lynching won't stop until cow becomes 'Rashtra Mata': BJP MLA
Incidents of lynching will not stop till cow gets the status of "Rashtra Mata", a BJP MLA from Telangana has said, amid the outrage over the Alwar mob lynching of a Muslim man. T Raja Singh Lodh, the BJP MLA from Goshamahal in Hyderabad, posted a video message on Facebook on Sunday, saying cow must be declared the "Mother of the Nation". Here's more.
Don't want 'khoon kharaba', so declare cow Mother-of-the-Nation: Singh
In the 7-minute clip, Singh said he doesn't want "khoon-kharaba" (bloodshed) on the issue, but if it has to stop, the cow must be declared the Mother of the Nation. "Till cow is not accorded the status of 'Rashtra Mata', I feel the war for 'gau raksha' (cow protection) will not stop even if 'gau rakshaks' (cow protectors) are put into jails," Singh said.
Singh slams media for being biased
Singh again slams media for being more biased
"Recently, a man named Rakbar alias Akbar Khan, a cow smuggler was killed. The media reported some cases of cow smuggling were pending against him," Singh said, claiming many cow protection activists were killed by cattle smugglers but media ignored such incidents. "However, when a cow smuggler is killed, the electronic media rakes up the issue, which is also raised in Parliament," he said.
Singh is well known for his controversial remarks
The Goshamahal MLA has often found himself on the wrong side of the law because of his remarks. He recently said the holy Quran was responsible for the spread of terrorism and those hosting Iftaar parties were begging for Muslim votes.
