Hyderabad: Anjani Kumar takes over as Police Commissioner
Anjani Kumar has been appointed as Hyderabad's new Police Commissioner. The 1990 batch IPS officer, Kumar, served as Telangana's Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order) for the last two years. He succeeded VV Srinivasa Rao. Besides serving as Additional Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) Hyderabad, he worked as Inspector General of Warangal Range and Deputy Inspector General of Nizamabad Range.

He was also Chief of Greyhounds (elite anti-Naxal unit) and also served as the Chief of Counter Intelligence Cell. A Delhi University alumni, Anjani Kumar, was awarded President's Police Medal for Distinguished Services and also the Indian Police Medal for Meritorious Services besides the Internal Security Medal for working in Naxal affected areas. In a major reshuffle, Telangana Government has transferred 38 IPS officials.
