Andhra-woman gets husband brutally killed after 10 days of marriage
A 22-year-old woman and her lover were arrested yesterday for plotting her husband's murder and getting the plan executed by three men in Andhra Pradesh's Vizianagaram. Initially, cops treated it as a case of robbery-murder, as she had told them. However, they started suspecting her when they discovered her lengthy phone call to another man on the day of crime and her contradictory statements.
Didn't want to marry because of affair with Shiva
On April-28, Y Saraswati got married in Srikakulam to her maternal cousin Yamaka Gowrishankar, an electrical engineer, against her wishes. She had refused the marriage since she was having an affair with Maddu Shiva, an unemployed BTech graduate, whom she had met through Facebook. Since her marriage, the lovers were hatching a plan to kill Gowrishankar. They hired two BTech graduates and rowdy-sheeter Gopi.
Wedding ring became payment, iron-rod murder weapon
Saraswati paid them with her wedding-ring and Rs. 8,000, while Shiva coughed up Rs. 10,000. Their plan was set for Monday, when Saraswati and Gowrishankar were out shopping. When they reached ITDA park in Thotapalli around 8pm, Saraswati asked Gowrishankar to stop as she had to attend nature's call. Once she was behind the bushes, the trio hit him with an iron rod.
She showed her 'injuries,' came up with robbery-murder story
While Gowrishankar lay there dead, Saraswati broke her bangles, hid her jewelry in her underwear and pretended to faint. This attracted attention of passers-by, who informed the cops. She showed them her 'injuries' and told them that three men killed her husband and robbed her. A massive manhunt was launched, after which the trio was arrested when their auto was detained at a check-post.
Saraswati's lengthy call to Shiva, no robbery gave new twist
In the meantime, cops found out about a lengthy phone call Saraswati made to Shiva. The fact that the trio did not steal Gowrishankar's new bike after killing him also brought a twist. Cops said Saraswati's contradictory statements too intensified their suspicion towards her. Yesterday, when the police asked her again at a Parvatipuram hospital, where she's been admitted, she confessed to the crime.
