'Please help': Andhra woman in Kuwait alleges torture by employers
What's the story
A woman from Andhra Pradesh, who moved to Kuwait for work, has alleged severe physical and mental abuse by her employer.
In a video appeal, Kavita from Annamayya district pleaded with Andhra Pradesh Minister Ram Prasad Reddy for help.
She said, "Please save me, sir. I am being tortured here. I have two children and a disabled husband. I came to Kuwait for their sake (family), but I am being subjected to injustice here."
Alleged abuse
Woman alleges confinement, starvation by employer
Kavita further alleged that her employer confined her in a room, denied her food, and put her under house arrest.
The agent who arranged her travel to Kuwait had also allegedly threatened her and blocked her phone, cutting off any means of communication with family or authorities.
Minister Reddy has written to Union Minister Kondapalli Srinivas, seeking his intervention to ensure her safe return to India.
