Railway officials are also questioning linemen about the accident
The driver of the 74643 Jalandhar-Amritsar diesel multiple unit (DMU) train is still being questioned by the police at the Ludhiana railway station. Meanwhile, Railway officials are also questioning linemen posted along the railway tracks near the accident site of Jora Pathak for failing to inform the DMU driver about the presence of hundreds of people on the railway tracks.
The search for the event organizers is on
Following the accident, the Railways had labelled the gathering as 'trespassing', saying that they had not received any information about the Dussehra celebrations taking place on the railway tracks. The Railways had also said that police had failed to prevent the gathering. Police are currently trying to trace the organizers of the Dussehra event that led to the tragedy, but they remain untraceable.
