Amritsar train accident: Over 50 feared dead, rescue operations underway

In an unfortunate incident, over 50 people are feared dead in a train accident which happened near train tracks in Amritsar.
The accident took place at Joda Fatak in Choura Bazar where Dusshera celebrations were going on. The train rammed into people watching the celebrations.
Meanwhile, rescue operations have been launched, and efforts are on to rescue people from debris.

Punjab CM rushes to Amritsar, announces compensation
Notably, Punjab CM Capt. Amarinder Singh has tweeted that he is rushing to Amritsar to supervise the rescue operations personally. He has also directed Home Secretary, Health Secretary and ADGP Law and Order to immediately reach Amritsar. Further, a compensation of Rs. 5 lakh and free treatment have been announced.
