Artificial Intelligence can help eliminate caste system, inequalities: Ambedkar followers
The supporters of BR Ambedkar have planned to celebrate the 127th birth-anniversary of Dalit leader at UN headquarters in New York next month with "Artificial Intelligence for Humanity" theme. They believe AI can help in culminating social stigmas like caste system and reduce inequalities in India by 2030. AI experts from IBM, Google, Facebook, and Microsoft are expected to attend the event. Here's more.
AI has ability to create safe zone: Mhaske
Deelip Mhaske of the Foundation for Human Horizon-USA, which is organizing the event said AI if used properly, can be the main driver to reduce inequalities as it can create and protect the much-needed safe zone. He said there is great research going on AI's use in preventing racial discrimination by IBM's "optimized pre-processing for discrimination". "Similarly, AI can reduce caste biases," he added.
This is India's first approach to tackle inequalities using AI
According to Mhaske, "This is India's first approach to use AI to tackle social inequalities." He said the foundation had asked the Indian Government to use modern technology to tackle social inequalities in India. Mhaske feels that AI will replace systemic biases and prejudice of individuals while implementing upliftment policies as well crimes against Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes.
But how exactly can AI help?
Mhaske claimed the use of AI in case of atrocities can take away police's power if they fail in registering cases. He said a simple mobile app will not only record the atrocity but also notify all government machineries at the same time. Use of facial recognition technology can alert not just police about the crime, but it will identify the perpetrator, Mhaske added.
