Amarnath attack: India keeps aside differences to condemn incident
Last night, seven pilgrims were killed and 14 injured when terrorists opened fire on a bus on the Amarnath Yatra. Police later said the Lashkar-e-Taiba was behind the attack, which was masterminded by Pakistani terrorist Ismail. PM Narendra Modi condemned the incident and said, "India will never get bogged down by such cowardly attacks." Others too kept differences aside and condemned the attack.
AAP, Congress, NC pay condolences to victims
"Strongly condemn terror attack. A cowardly act," tweeted AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal. "The attack on #AmarnathYatra pilgrims is the height of cowardice. Terrorist wimps," said Congress leader Milind Deora. "Every right thinking Kashmiri must today condemn the killing of the Amarnath yatris and say, unequivocally - this is #NotInMyName," tweeted former J&K CM Omar Abdullah of the NC.
Not just politicians
Not just politicians, others too took to social media to post their condolences. "Attack on innocent #AmarnathYatra pilgrims is a low of another level! Angry and sad...prayers for all those affected," tweeted Akshay Kumar. "I know the feeling with which my mother had gone on a #AmarnathYatra some years ago. To attack pilgrims is the worst form of existence," said Harsha Bhogle.
