#CareerBytes: 4 alternate career options if you didn't clear CA
Chartered Accountancy is one of the most in-demand career options in India. The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) offers a three-level CA program in the country. Though it is much sought-after, the career path to becoming a CA is quite difficult; it is not that easy to clear the CA course. Here are some alternate career options if you didn't clear CA.
Go for other professional courses in finance, accounting
CA is considered one of the most difficult programs; clearing various CA stages and qualifying for the Final exam is very tough. The CA program's average passing percentage is very less. Those who didn't clear CA can go for other professional accounting/finance-related courses, including Cost & Management Accountancy (CMA), Chartered Financial Analysis (CFA), ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) program, and Company Secretaryship (CS).
One can also opt for MBA or pursue law
Those who have not been able to clear the CA program can also opt for a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Finance or any other field of their choice. Alternatively, they can also pursue law and go for LLB (Bachelor of Laws) program and then choose a specialization course in Corporate Law if they are interested in working in the corporate sector.
Prepare for UPSC CSE or other government job exams
One can also prepare for the UPSC Civil Services Examination, a national-level competitive exam, if they are interested in getting into Indian Civil Services like IAS, IPS, and IFS, among others. They can also appear for other competitive government job exams, like State PSC exams, SSC CGL, banking exams, teaching (TET), etc. Otherwise, one can also join a job in the private sector.
Can opt for higher studies as per their interests
Candidates who haven't been able to clear CA can also opt to pursue higher studies as per their career interests or passion. They should first identify which profession they want to get into and then choose a course perfect for them in a good college.
