HRD is launching the 'Swachh Bharat Summer Internship' for students!
Days after the Lok Sabha Secretariat announced exciting internships, the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) has invited applications for a similar program. The 'Swachh Bharat Summer Internship' (SBSI) is open for students in higher education institutes. The UGC will even provide 2 credit points as an 'elective' under the Choice Based Credit System to those who complete SBSI.
What will I have to do?
If selected for the SBSI, you will adopt one or more villages and work to improve rural sanitation in your area. The parent institution will have to arrange required logistics. You will have to devote at least 100 hours to the cause during May 1-July 31 2018. Within 15 days of completion of fieldwork, you will need to submit an 'Internship Report.'
Will I get any reward for my work?
At the end of the program, the best interns at college, university, state and national levels will be identified and awarded. The top performers at the university, state and national levels will also get cash prizes. For now, MHRD has asked institutes to appoint a nodal officer who will be guiding students at their respective institutes throughout the internship.
Cool! How can I apply?
Registration for the SBSI will be done through a new portal that is to be launched on April 25. Visit www.sbsi.mygov.in (once it is launched) for more information. You will have to open the portal, make an account and report your activities during the internship.
