UP Board Result 2018: Autorickshaw driver's son is the topper
What's the story
Two boys have jointly topped the Class-12 UP Board Examinations this year with 466 marks out of 500 i.e 93.20%. The state education board declared results early on Sunday.
One of them, Akash Maurya, is the son of an autorickshaw driver.
A student of Sri Sai Inter College in Uttar Pradesh's Barabanki district, Akash's road to success hasn't been easy.

Akash wants to become an engineer
A resident of Lakhperabagh village, Akash wants to become an engineer. He loves to read fiction and is a fan of Bollywood singer Kishore Kumar.
He has scored 97 in mathematics and physics, 94 in chemistry, 91 in Hindi and 87 in English.
He considers his farmer grandfather Sarvjit Maurya - who pushed his parents to make him study - as his role model.
Success
Akash's biggest motivation is his grandfather
"It was my grandfather who encouraged me and my parents that I should be allowed to study," Akash told Hindustan Times.
"Had he not stepped in, I would have to drive an auto rickshaw like my father to support the family. I'm grateful to him for withstanding all the pressure and allowing me to continue with my studies," he added.

A 10.19% dip in the intermediate results compared to 2017
A total of 72.43% students cleared the exams this year and 137 of them - 90 boys and 37 girls - scored 90% and above.
Last year, 82.62% students had passed the exams. 2018 results saw a 10.19% dip in the intermediate results compared to 2017.
As many as 29,82,996 students had registered for the exams this year but only 26,04,093 appeared and 18,86,050 have emerged successful.
