#CBSEResults: All about Class-12 toppers Hansika Shukla and Karishma Arora
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has declared the much-awaited results for 2018-19 Class 12 Board Examinations on its official website on Thursday. This year, two girls, Hansika Shukla and Karishma Arora, have emerged the toppers of the Class 12 examinations, scoring 499/500 marks each, according to CBSE chairman Anita Karwal. CBSE Class 12 joint toppers are from Uttar Pradesh
Notably, both the CBSE Class 12 toppers for this year, Hansika and Karishma, are from Uttar Pradesh. While Hansika is a student of Delhi Public School at Ghaziabad's Meerut Road, Karishma is from SD Public School in UP's Muzaffarnagar, according to UttarPradesh.org News. The joint toppers have scored 99.8% in the CBSE Class 12 exams.
'I couldn't believe it,' says topper Hansika
In an interview with ABP News, topper Hansika revealed that she secured 99 marks in English and 100 in all other subjects including History, Political Science, Psychology, and Hindustani Vocal. "My father called me from his office...I couldn't take his call. Then my mother called and congratulated me and told me that I had topped the exams. I couldn't believe it," she said.

Hansika also said she wasn't very active on social media and instead preferred listening to music whenever she got bored. She also talked about her passions and career plans. She said, "Psychology is my passion and I want to follow it. As far as career is concerned, I want to join the Indian foreign services... I am fascinated with the dynamics of foreign affairs."
Meanwhile, three girl students share the second rank
While Hansika and Karishma share the first rank, three girl students reportedly share the second rank in CBSE Class 12 results with a score of 498 out of 500 each. The three girls are Gaurangi Chawala of Nirmal Ashram School in Uttarakhand's Rishikesh, Aishwarya of Kendriya Vidyalaya in Uttar Pradesh's Raebareli, and BR Bhavya of the SK International Public School in Haryana's Jind.
As many as 18 students secured the third rank
While the second place is shared by three students who scored 99.6%, the third spot in the Class 12 results is shared by 18 students. Meanwhile, as many as 17,693 students scored more than 95% in the exams and 94,299 candidates have scored above 90%.
Girls outperform boys with pass percentage of 88.7%
Around 13 lakh students had reportedly appeared for the CBSE Class 12 examinations that began in February. This time again, girls have outperformed with a pass percentage of 88.7% followed by transgenders at 83.3% and boys at 79.4%. The top-performing region was Trivandrum with a pass percentage of 98.2% followed by Chennai with a pass percentage of 92.93% and Delhi with 91.87% pass percentage.
