UP: Aligarh BJP minority leader's husband thrashed over membership drive
The husband of a local BJP minority wing leader named Farheen Mohsin in Uttar Pradesh's Aligarh was allegedly thrashed by some people who were angered by her participation in a membership drive of the party. The incident took place near Delhi Gate area in Aligarh. Additional Superintendent of Police, Aligarh (City), Abhishek said that a case has been registered in the matter. Here's more.

"A woman named Farheen Mohsin has filed a complaint that some people threatened her over her participation in BJP membership drive and used violence. A case has been registered and the required action is being taken," ASP Abhishek was quoted as saying by ANI.
Orthodox people threatening me to stop membership drive: Farheen
Farheen said, "I enroll members under the BJP membership drive. Muslim women have aspirations from (PM) Modi ji after the Triple Talaq Bill was passed." "Every Muslim woman wants to join BJP. Many orthodox people in my neighborhood can't see their women stepping out of their houses," she said. "They are threatening (me) to stop the membership drive," she added.
I have received death threats: Farheen
"I have received death threats asking me to stop my work, my husband was attacked due to the same reason. The incident took place on August 8. Some people came and abused us. They also have beaten up my husband," Farheen said.

Farheen's husband, Mohammad Mohsin, said 7-8 assailants entered his office and attacked him, threatening him to stop Farheen from speaking against Triple Talaq. "Seven to eight people attacked me inside my office. They said my wife should not speak anything on Triple Talaq and this is not in their religion. They threatened that they will not let my wife work in BJP," he said.
President has already given assent to Triple Talaq Bill
President Ram Nath Kovind had already given his assent to the Muslim Women (Protection of Rights on Marriage), Bill, 2019, popularly referred to as the Triple Talaq Bill, on August 1. It seeks to criminalize the practice of instant "Triple Talaq" in Islam and provides for up to three years of imprisonment for the husband.
