Assam Police averts suicide by a girl, thanks to Facebook!

A girl in Assam, who had posted on Facebook that she was going to commit suicide, was saved by the Assam Police in the nick of time after the social media giant's US-based headquarters alerted them.
"Info was received from Facebook last night that a minor girl had updated her status as- 'I am gonna to commit suicide today'," Assam police tweeted yesterday.

Girl was located in 30 minutes: Police
"The girl was located in 30 minutes & her safety was ensured. She & her family were counseled," the Assam Police said in the tweet.
"She is safe and in their care," the police added.
Thanking the social networking giant, police officials said, "The information was received from Facebook headquarters. A life was saved."
The girl's post was later deleted on police advice.
