Akash Tomar is a 2013 batch Indian Police Services (IPS) officer of the Uttar Pradesh cadre. He did his BTech from Allahabad and cleared the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) Civil Services Examination (CSE) in his very first attempt with an all-India rank of 138. Tomar shot to fame in 2020, when he shared his preparatory notes of the 2012 UPSC examinations on social media. According to him, many people would seek his help and suggestions in order to prepare for what is one of India’s toughest exams to crack. In order to help them, and for the larger benefit of UPSC aspirants in other parts of the country, Tomar put all of his notes in the public domain. He was much appreciated for this benevolent gesture. He has also won praise for his work as an officer from the then Union Minister of Environment, Forests, and Climate, Prakash Javadekar, for saving thousands of endangered species of turtles from poachers.
