Akash Ambani and Shloka Mehta are engaged!
After much speculation, it's official: Akash Ambani, the scion of India's richest family, is engaged to Shloka Mehta, daughter of diamantaire Russell Mehta. The two, who studied together at Dhirubhai Ambani International School in Mumbai, have been close friends for years. Earlier this month, reports had said that they are set to get married in December this year.

26-year-old Akash and twin sister Isha are the eldest of three children of Mukesh and Nita Ambani. After studying at Dhirubhai Ambani International, he went on to graduate in Economics from Brown University in the US. Since October 2014, he has been on the board of Reliance Jio, the group's fast-growing telecom venture, as well as Reliance Retail.
Shloka moved to Princeton and LSE for further studies
Meanwhile, Shloka is the youngest of three children of Russell Mehta, Rosy Blue India head, and Mona. After finishing schooling at Dhirubhai International, she studied Anthropology at Princeton University and Law at London School of Economics and Political Science. She is now a director on Rosy Blue Foundation. She is also a co-founder of ConnectFor, which matches volunteers with NGOs that need them.
A happy couple beams about their future
Reports say Akash proposed to Shloka at sunset in Goa. "I am truly happy that our friendship has blossomed into love. Shloka is a truly special and extremely kindhearted person," he said. "Despite years and busy schedules, we have always found ways to stay connected. Akash is incredibly grounded. We support each other's hopes and aspirations....and lucky still to have supportive families," Shloka said.
Engagement in June, marriage later this year
The couple was joined by Akash's parents, Isha and brother Anant, along with Shloka's family for dinner. A thrilled Nita said, "I have known Shloka since she was four and we are all delighted to welcome her to our home and our hearts." A formal engagement ceremony has been planned in June. The marriage will take place later this year in India, reports said.
