Pay cab charges if you're late: Air India warns crew
Air India (AI) cabin crew, who turn up late for their flights, will now have to pay the transportation cost otherwise paid by the Airlines. The Airlines also warned that the late-comers might lose their overseas allowance and will be allowed to fly only domestic for a year. Further, as part of the cost-cutting exercise, it has also decided that its crew will stay in 3-star hotels everywhere.
This will be strictly followed, Air India issues orders
"All cabin crew who report late for scheduled flight will fly only domestic routes for a year. The cost incurred in sending transport to their residence will also be recovered from them," state the orders issued by the Airlines. It also said, "It's been decided henceforth that cabin crew will stay in three star hotel in India and abroad. This may be strictly followed."
Boeing 777, 787 cabin crew may seek transfer to Delhi
The state-owned Airlines also said in the order that the cabin crew of Boeing 777 and 787 may seek transfer to Delhi "to reduce cost". However, no transfer benefit will be provided. This June, AI had also decided that its cabin crew will share hotel rooms in a gender-sensitive manner, adding to a string of instructions issued by the Airlines for cost-cutting.
Fuel price hike impact: AI expense increases by Rs. 65cr
The cost-cutting comes after oil companies increased jet fuel prices on Monday by 7.3%, the steepest hike in recent months. The Airlines, which raises an annual fuel bill of Rs. 8,500cr, will now have an additional Rs. 65cr expense this month due to the hike.
