VIP misbehaviour: AICC secretary abuses cop at Telangana assembly
On the same day Sena MP Ravindra Gaikwad courted controversy over his abusive behaviour, All India Congress Committee chief V. Hanumantha Rao made headlines for similar reasons. The former Telangana MP was caught on camera abusing a police inspector when he was told only MLAs and MLCs were allowed into the 'Media Point' in the state assembly.
What happened?
Sudhakar, the inspector, reportedly told Rao he wasn't allowed inside the Media Point, at which Rao ordered him to show the rule book. "Are we living in a democracy or dictatorship? Who are you to stop me? I am the AICC secretary and I will address reporters," he said. Sudhakar clarified he wasn't curbing Rao's movement, and was only telling him the rules.

Sudhakar later took to social media and offered to quit due to the humiliation. A criminal case has been lodged against Rao under Sections 353 and 506. Rao responded by saying Sudhakar's threat to resign was politically motivated. "In the assembly, only the speaker can give orders and marshals can act on the speaker's directions, and police have no rights," he added.

Rao has courted controversy earlier too; in April 2016, he targeted governor E.S.L. Narasimhan, saying his frequent visits to temples disturb other devotees. He also said the President visiting Tirumala was a dignified event, but Narasimhan "roams" around without a shirt.
