50% students, parents agreed for free haircut
"The program will begin later this month or in the first week of August," LD Desai, Administrative Officer of Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation School Board, said. He said the consent of the students and their parents would be sought, adding that men will give haircuts to boys and women to girls. "50% of students and their parents have agreed," Desai informed.
What is the primary objective of the move?
Desai said that the primary objectives behind the move, as part of the "Ek Kadam Swachhata Ki Aur" initiative, was to inculcate clean habits among students and also to ensure parents save money on regular haircuts. "The minimum cost of a haircut in Ahmedabad is Rs. 70 and we believe this program will allow the parents of students to save money," he said.
