Mathura: Mass cheating during LLB exams, teachers found assisting
Incidents of mass cheating at two big colleges in Mathura, affiliated to the Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar University (formerly Agra University), have come to light. According to reports, inspections at the Babu Shivnath Agrawal PG College and the Kishori Raman PG College uncovered mass cheating incidents during the LLB exams, which were held on Tuesday. Here are more details about the incident.
Cheatsheets recovered near exam hall windows, washrooms
According to Jansatta, the BSA college was conducting third year LLB exams, while the KR degree college was holding first year LLB exams. Upon District Magistrate Sarvajanam Mishra's instruction, Deputy Collector Rajiv Upadhyay conducted an inspection during the examination's first shift between 7-10 am. The inspection team reportedly recovered a massive number of cheatsheets outside exam hall windows and near washrooms.
Teachers also found helping students during exam
The team first arrived at the BSA college where examinees, stirred by the sudden arrival of government officials, allegedly tossed their cheatsheets outside the window. When the team later arrived at KR, there too, examinees allegedly threw cheatsheets outside the windows. Reportedly, teachers were also found helping examinees during the test. Meanwhile, no cheatsheets were recovered from exam halls.
Now, District Magistrate seeks cancellation of exams
Based on the Deputy Collector's report, the District Magistrate has sent sealed cheatsheets to the Vice Chancellor of the Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar University, along with a letter seeking the cancellation of the exams held at the two colleges. He also made a request for external supervisors. The DM has also sought clarification from the college administrations in the matter.
However, BSA college principal dismisses allegations as 'baseless'
Although the inspection team claims they approached teachers at the colleges who couldn't comment on the matter, the principal of BSA College, Dr. Suman Agarwal, dismissed the allegations as "baseless" and denied any occurrence of mass cheating. Further inspection from the University is awaited.
