Businessman pays bail money for 17 inmates on his birthday
A local businessman's birthday in Agra meant the release of 17 jail inmates who couldn't afford bail. As a way to give back to society, Motilal Yadav celebrated his 73rd birthday by posting bail for the inmates who were languishing in jail for petty offenses. Yadav deposited around Rs. 35,000 with district jail authorities to secure the release of the inmates. Here's more.
Yadav inspired by another businessman
Interestingly, Yadav got the idea after he read about a businessman who donated steel glasses to jail inmates, Hindustan Times reported. That's when his son, an advocate, suggested that he should help them too. Yadav told ANI, "I came to know that inmates can be released with people's support... I've given my contribution. They will not repeat their mistakes in the future."

Apart from posting their bail, Yadav told HT, "I also paid some money for the fare and food of about 8 inmates who were from other districts, so that they should not have to travel without a ticket and on an empty stomach."
Last year, Yadav organized bhandara for visually-impaired students
Speaking to HT, Yadav recalled, how in the past, too, he has worked towards benefiting the society on his birthday. Last year, he had organized a bhandara for visually-impaired students of 'Soorkuti', he said. "Every year, he does something for needy people. So this time when he wished to do something for the inmates, we supported him wholeheartedly," his son, Vijay, said.
