Now, JNU student Shehla Rashid alleges she received death threat
A day after JNU student leader Umar Khalid was shot at, student activist Shehla Rashid Shora filed an FIR with the Jammu and Kashmir police in Srinagar against mafia don Ravi Poojary for allegedly threatening her. Rashid said that Poojary had threatened to silence herself, Umar Khalid, and Dalit leader Jignesh Mevani "forever", and provided evidence for her allegations. Here are the details.
Ravi Poojary had made similar threats earlier
Rashid tweeted the SMS-ed death threat. "Just shut your mouth or we will shut your mouth forever," Poojary's SMS read. Notably, this is the same Ravi Poojary against whom Umar Khalid had lodged a police complaint in June. "He said that I am on his HIT LIST!," Khalid had tweeted, and said that Poojary had made similar threats in February 2016 too.

On Monday, Khalid came pretty close to losing his life
On Monday, an unidentified gunman had tried to take Khalid's life, but he escaped unscathed. "I was reminded of what happened to Gauri Lankesh. I thought that moment has arrived," Khalid had said following the attack. Police said that the attack seemed pre-meditated, and the attacker has been captured on CCTV. Khalid blamed the media trial and hate campaigns against him for the attack.
