Adityanath lays foundation of college, stadium in Gorakhpur
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday laid the foundation stone of a college and a stadium named after his spiritual guru, Mahant Avaidyanath, in Jungle Kaudia in Gorakhpur yesterday. Mahant Avaidyanathji, who started his political-journey from Jungle Kaudia, was a five-time MLA from Maniram seat (1962, 1967, 1968, 1974 and 1977) and a four-time MP from Gorakhpur (1970, 1989, 1991 and 1996).
'Mahant Avaidyanath had great ties with people in Jungle Kaudia'
Addressing a gathering, Adityanath said, "Mahant Avaidyanathji had great ties with people in Jungle Kaudia from 1957 to 2014, and they demanded stadium and college here." "Also, dangal (wrestling) and Jungle Kaudia can't be separated. So we are giving a stadium here. Now those running on roads will be able to practice in a stadium, and akhadas should be built for wrestling," he said.
Previous governments did discrimination in supplying electricity: Adityanath
Referring to the alleged discrimination in supplying electricity to some parts of the state during previous governments, the UP CM said, "Earlier, people had to wait for electricity supply to resume." "But, in our government, we have ensured that each city and village get power supply without any discrimination. Roads that remained damaged for years are being repaired now," he said.
'UP government provides free LPG connections to 8 crore families'
Adityanath said the government is "providing free LPG connections to 8cr families and ha(s) made available 8L houses in rural areas and 41,000 in urban." Adityanath also inaugurated a boating facility at Ramgarh Lake and laid the foundation of a water sports complex.
