18 killed as truck rams into barricade on Pune-Satara highway
At least 18 people were killed and another 14 injured when the truck they were in ran into a barricade on the Pune-Satara highway early this morning. According to initial reports, most of the tempo truck occupants were construction workers from Karnataka, who were traveling from Satara to Pune. The injured have been rushed to a nearby hospital in Khandala.
Driver lost control at a slope and fell off road
Giving details, Assistant Police Inspector Randive of Bhuins Police Station said, "At the turn on the spot, there is a slope. I suspect the driver lost control and drove into the safety wall along the slope. The tempo fell some 8-10 feet off the road."
