Delhi: Abducted kid rescued after being sold twice on WhatsApp
A two-and-a-half-year-old boy was rescued after being kidnapped and sold at least twice, each time at a higher price. Cops were alerted when his last buyer shared his photo on WhatsApp with a price tag of Rs. 1.8L. The kid was picked up from outside the Jama Masjid when his parents were preparing for prayer. Four people have been arrested in the matter.
The kid was kidnapped from Jama Masjid a month ago
40-year-old Jaan Mohammad abducted the kid on June 5, then took him to Radha's house in Shakurpur who promised him a share from the 'sale'. Radha then sold it to Sonia of Mangolpuri for Rs. 1L, who sold it to Saroj of Raghubir Nagar for Rs. 1.10L. Saroj then put up an 'ad' for the boy on WhatsApp for Rs. 1.8L.
Culprit's efforts to evade suspicion instead led cops to her
Meanwhile, cops had shared publicly photos of the missing child. A WhatsApp user alerted police when they saw the kid's photo on the messaging app. To evade suspicion, a scared Saroj left the boy at a local temple and informed cops as a 'Samaritan'. But when they tried contacting the number, they found it switched off. Suspicious, they tracked her and discovered the racket.
All four involved have been arrested
Saroj, Sonia and Radha had met each other at an IVF clinic when they went to donate eggs. They have reportedly sold another boy from Gurgaon. All three of them along with Jaan have been arrested.
