Here's what happened
Brijwani got a call urging him to link his SIM-Aadhaar, and that failure to do it would result in his number's deactivation. He then received an SMS requesting him to send his SIM to the service centre, after which his SIM stopped working. He learnt about the fraud on visiting the bank the next day. A case was registered at Gandhi Nagar police station.
You need to link your SIM-Aadhaar by March 31
The government has made it mandatory for all mobile users to link their SIMs with Aadhaar by March 31. Despite several announcements and revised deadlines, over 50 crore customers are yet to do the compulsory linking. Users previously had to visit mobile stores for the procedure. Now, after multiple complaints and requests to ease the process, they can be done sitting at home.
