Aadhaar an additional facility, not mandatory for getting pension: Government
Aadhaar card is not mandatory for central government employees to get their pension, Minister of State for Personnel Jitendra Singh said. His statement came amid reports that some retired employees are facing difficulty in getting the pension in the absence of Aadhaar-linkage with their bank accounts. He said Aadhaar is an additional facility for submission of life certificate without the need for visiting banks.
Government started welfare schemes for its employees
There are about 48.41L central government employees and 61.17L pensioners. Centre started various initiatives for the welfare of its employees, Singh said, adding minimum pension was increased to Rs. 9,000, the ceiling of gratuity has been increased to Rs. 20L, fixed medical allowance was increased to Rs. 1,000/month. Constant-attendance allowance was increased from Rs. 4,500 to Rs. 6,750 with effect from July 1, 2017.
