What are President Mukherjee's post retirement plans?
With President Pranab Mukherjee's term coming to an end, the refurbishing of his next residence, 10 Rajaji Marg was seen going on at a feverish pace. The designated home of outgoing president Mukherjee is undergoing extensive work, with a huge space chalked out for his large book collection. Apparently, Mukherjee will be moving to the residence of former president, APJ Abdul Kalam.
Perks, services to be revoked
President Mukherjee's retirement will also see a step down from the services he is receiving as of now. The President will move to a less splendid residence and will have to bid adieu to the milieu of 200 staffers. Mukherjee will also have to leave behind his present official vehicle, that is bullet-proof Mercedes Benz.
Benefits received by President post retirement
According to the President Emoluments Act 1951 (updated) a former President is entitled to a furnished residence, two telephones, one mobile phone with national roaming facility and a motor-car free of charge or car allowances. The other perks are access to secretarial staff consisting of two private secretaries, a personal assistant, two peons, and a salary of Rs. 75,000.
Medical attendance, free travel and much more
Besides being entitled for office expenses of upto Rs. 60,000, the President will also get free medical attendance. As a former first citizen, he can travel for free to any place in India. He is also entitled for the highest class of travel by air, rail or through waterways and will be accompanied by one person.

With few days left for his term to get over as India's President, Pranab Mukherjee appreciated the respect and love he received as an office bearer adding he would keep visiting various places across the country like a common man. President Mukherjee expressed his gratefulness towards receiving adulation in his long career span of 25 years as a minister.
