Mumbai to host cricket tournament for the physically challenged
India's top physically challenged cricketers will be seen in action in the 8th All-India LIC "Divyang" Inter-Zonal Cricket Championship to be held in Mumbai from March 30 to April 1. To be played over a T20 format, teams from the North, South, West, East, and Central Zones will be in the hunt for the prestigious title. Here are more details.
No government body or BCCI supported the organizing body
The zonal leg was played in Delhi, Thrissur, Kolhapur, Godda, and Bhilai respectively where Haryana, TN, Mumbai, Jharkhand, and Chhattisgarh were the winners. Ajit Wadekar, former India captain and President of All-India Cricket Association for the Physically Challenged said, despite making efforts the 30-year-old body was unable to get the government's or BCCI's support. The event is supported by LIC and SBI among others.
