What did JNUSU president say on imposition of compulsory attendance
JNUSU president Geeta Kumari said, "JNU stands for its own time-tested methods of classroom participation, academic engagement and accountability, including continuous evaluation of classroom performance, presentations, assignments, tests and tutorials, supervisorial and departmental progress reports for research scholars." She added these methods "have achieved widely recognized excellence for JNU - and rejects the administration's mindless imposition of forcing students to sign compulsory attendance sheets."
Both JNUSU, JNUTA disapproved the implementation of compulsory attendance
There are around 8,000 registered students studying in JNU and nearly 6,000 of them stay on campus. The statement issued by the students union stated, "The vote for 'yes' is a vote for JNU, its excellence and its time-tested norm of accountability." As per reports, both the JNUSU and the JNUTA have disagreed to the implementation of the compulsory attendance system.
