96-year-old is the oldest to get COVID-19 vaccine in Nagaland
A total of 31,391 people have been administered the COVID-19 vaccine in Nagaland till now, and out of them a 96-year-old beneficiary from Dimapur district is the oldest to be inoculated, a Health Department official said on Tuesday. State Immunization Officer Dr. Ritu Thurr said that 302 senior citizens and 22 people above 45 years old with comorbidities were administered the vaccine on Tuesday.
5,678 healthcare professionals have received both the shots
Thurr said that of the total people administered the vaccine in Nagaland, 20,786 are frontline workers and 10,281 are healthcare professionals. Among the healthcare professionals, 5,678 have received the second shot of the COVID-19 vaccine, completing the full course of vaccination.
No adverse events reported after vaccination
"No adverse events needing medical intervention have been reported after the beneficiaries received the vaccine, including the vaccination of age-appropriate high-risk groups," he said. Thurr requested all senior citizens and people above the age of 45 with comorbidities to self-register through cowin.gov.in or do onsite registration along with a photo ID.
India's coronavirus tally reaches 11.13 million
Meanwhile, India on Tuesday reported more than 14,000 fresh coronavirus infections, pushing the nationwide tally to 11.13 million cases. At least 90 more patients died in the past 24 hours, bringing the death toll to 1,57,403. Maharashtra, which is the worst-hit state in India, continued to report a high daily positivity rate in coronavirus infections.
1.46 lakh beneficiaries inoculated on Day 1 of Phase II
Meanwhile, on Monday, when India kick-started the second phase of the coronavirus vaccination drive, 1.46 lakh people were inoculated with the first dose, as per reports. The number of registrations shot up to over 29 lakh, Union Health Minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan said. Prime Minister Narendra Modi led the second phase of the drive as he got vaccinated in Delhi.
