9 killed after building collapses in Meerut; more feared trapped
What's the story
At least nine people have died, five are injured, and one is feared trapped after a three-story building collapsed in the Zakir Colony of Meerut district in Uttar Pradesh on Saturday evening.
The incident occurred around 5:15pm and emergency services were immediately alerted.
The injured were rushed to Lala Lajpat Rai Memorial Medical College for medical treatment.

Rescue operations underway, officials confirm
"Fourteen people were initially trapped in it, out of which three were rescued earlier. Five more have been rescued now, the rest are still trapped," District Magistrate Deepak Meena said.
The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), fire brigade, and police teams are working to rescue those trapped under the debris.

Owner and response
Building owner identified, CM Adityanath directs relief work
The owner of the collapsed building has been identified as Nafo Alauddin, who operated a dairy business from the premises.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed officials to expedite relief work and ensure proper treatment for the injured.
The incident comes as floods have impacted 11 districts in Uttar Pradesh, leading to 17 deaths.
Last week, eight people were killed and 28 were injured after a three-story building collapsed in Lucknow.
